Make a Mother's Day

2017 is the 8th year that Canadian Mothers' Union will have participated in the Make a Mother's Day ethical gift campaign. This campaign originated in the UK and has been very successful. Canada takes part in this campaign by using a catalogue adapted for Canadian currency. In 2013, over $5900 was raised. In Canada, there are absolutely no administrative costs. All the money is raised voluntarily by Mothers’ Union members, and goes directly to support the three centrally managed Mothers' Union programs and the Emergency Relief fund.
  • Literacy and Financial Education Program in Sudan, Burundi and Rwanda
  • The Family Life Program in Uganda
  • The Worldwide Parenting Program in 13 countries including Canada
  • The Emergency Relief Fund which responds with emergency funds to areas hit by man-made or natural disasters.

We in Canada are anxious to play our part in supporting these worthwhile endeavours. Catalogues and order forms are available upon request by email (info@canadianmothersunion.ca) from the Canadian President.

How it Works

On Mother’s Day, as you remember your mother, we are asking you to do something a little different. Help us to change the lives of people all over the world by buying a Make a Mother’s Day gift. Each gift is an example of the programs we aim to fund to enable families to create stable, sustainable futures. Your support will mean these goals can be achieved.

Mothers’ Union works through a grassroots membership of over 4 million people around the world supporting families and communities. Our aim is to empower people by sharing the skills they need to create a better life for themselves and their families. We don’t want to simply give out handouts. With your help we aim to inspire our beneficiaries, give them the opportunity to learn to read and write, to grow fruit and vegetables and work within their families and communities to support each other and build a better life for generations to come. A gift, however small, can make a real difference to a mother’s life.
