Make a Mother's Day

Canadian Mothers' Union continues to participate in the Make a Mother's Day ethical gift campaign. The campaign originated in the UK and has been very successful. Canada takes part in this campaign by using a brochure adapted for Canadian currency. In Canada, the administrative costs are not taken out of the gift, but are covered by the branch or diocese or by voluntary giving.

All the money is raised voluntarily by Mothers’ Union members, and goes directly to support the four centrally managed Mothers' Union programs.

  • Literacy and Financial Education Program in Sudan, Burundi and Rwanda
  • Literacy and Financial Education Program which includes financial planning and a Savings and Loan program
  • The Family Life Program which builds confidence and works to stop gender violence and child marriages
  • The Worldwide Parenting Program in 23 countries including Canada
  • The Emergency Relief Fund which responds with emergency funds to areas hit by man-made or natural disasters

We in Canada are anxious to play our part in supporting these worthwhile endeavours.

How it Works

On Mother’s Day, as you remember your mother, we are asking you to do something a little different. Help us to change the lives of people all over the world by buying a Make a Mother’s Day gift. Each gift is an example of the programs we aim to fund to enable families to create stable, sustainable futures. Your support will mean these goals can be achieved.

Mothers’ Union works through a grassroots membership of over 4 million people around the world supporting families and communities. Our aim is to empower people by sharing the skills they need to create a better life for themselves and their families. We don’t want to simply give out handouts. With your help we aim to inspire our beneficiaries, give them the opportunity to learn to read and write, to grow fruit and vegetables and work within their families and communities to support each other and build a better life for generations to come. A gift, however small, can make a real difference to a mother’s life.
